BURIAL AND CREMATION REVIEW GROUP REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS - OCTOBER 2007
FOREWORD: I have pleasure in submitting the attached report prepared by the Group set up by your
predecessor as Health Minister in January 2005. Our terms of reference required us to look at two main subjects, death certification and the law relating to burial cremation and cemeteries. In looking at the subject of death certification the Group concentrated on proposals designed to ensure that when death occurs there are adequate safeguards in place to meet any concerns about the death that may be in the minds of family or society.

This note is issied as a precautionary measure in the event of a national emergency giving ris to mass fatalities. Defra and WAG intend to alert local authority regulators at the time when an emergency situation exists which triggers the guidance. The Cremation (Amendment) Regulations 2006
The Department of Constitutional Affairs has issued the new regulations which are to come into force with effect from 14th February 2006-01-26. Cremation Certificates have been updated to reflect the changes and are available to be downloaded from this site. Those affected by the amendments are Forms 'A' 'AA' and 'DD' Form 'G', the Cremation Register needs to be amended to reflect the changed wording in Regulation 13 (6)”
