Crematorium Operatives - Refresher Training
The need for updating your crematorium technicians’ awareness of their responsibilities under the EPA 1990 has been highlighted by the publication of the Secretary of State’s Process Guidance Note PG 5/2 (04).

The FBCA has developed a course dealing specifically with cremator maintenance, maintenance of monitoring equipment, improving operational techniques, understanding of the cremation process, the legislative requirements of the Secretary of State’s Process Guidance Note PG 5/2 (04) and local requirements of the Cremation Authority’s Authorisation to operate.

The need for the training of staff at all levels is a key element of the Guidance Note PG 5/2 (04) and it will be a condition of the LAPPC Permit for cremation authorities to provide a summary of the training programme for each member of staff who has responsibilities related to the permit.

The course demonstrates the necessity for the ongoing personal development of staff whose actions may have an impact on the environment and that effective management is central to environmental performance and an essential component of BAT. It is also recommended that one of the published standards should be adopted, e.g. ISO 14001, tailored to the size of the particular process.

Details of the course can be obtained from Duncan McCallum, Secretary Tel. 01292 294619
