The Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management and the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities are pleased to announce the outcome of their discussions regarding the Institute’s proposal for the formation of a single organisation to represent the industry.

A recent meeting of representatives of the Institute and Federation, held in Solihull, was both cordial and productive.  Where opportunities arise for joint action on issues of common interest, the two organisations agreed to endeavour to adopt a common approach.  Whilst the Federation had not been able to commit to a single organisation, the possibility had not been ruled out.

Both parties agreed to work proactively towards an annual joint conference of burial and cremation authorities and professionals to take place in the years. They will work together to take forward the work of the Crematoria Abatement of Mercury Emissions Organisation (CAMEO).

Representatives agreed to meet again with a view to continuing discussions.
