Boston Crematorium serves the town of Boston and immediate surrounding area, carrying out approximately 900 funeral services each year. The 54 acre site also encompasses Boston Cemetery where there are approximately 45 burials each year, and a smaller cemetery located in the nearby village of Fosdyke is also administered by this service.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to supervise all operational aspects of the service, including cremations, interments, memorials, grounds maintenance and associated administration. This is a hands-on operational role, and the post holder will report to, and work closely with, the Principal Officer (Bereavement Services) to provide a sensitive high quality service to the bereaved.
Although not essential, the ideal candidate will have experience working with the bereaved and preferably within a cemetery or crematorium environment. The successful candidate will be expected to hold, or be willing to pass, the Certificate of Proficiency for Cremator Technicians. Other professional qualifications will be an advantage, such as the ICCM diploma, or current enrolment on that course.
This role provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to progress to management of the service upon the retirement of current incumbent in 2 to 5 years, and you will be expected to shadow the role of the Principal Officer, fully deputising in their absence.
