Our Online Learning Academy has been developed to provide accessible learning resources, helping member authorities and their colleagues achieve the standards laid out within Crematorium Compliance Scheme, Code of Cremation Practice and PG5/2. Our mission is to support members in ensuring operational standards and procedures are established, maintained and improved, to deliver consistently high standards of service to the bereaved.
Enrolment is open to all member authority colleagues working within the Crematorium or Cemetery, irrespective of their role.
Recognised in the DEFRA Process Guidance Note 5/2 (Statutory Guidance for Crematoria) as a source of certification for those working within a Crematory in the UK.
The TEST learning pathway is to carry out 50 recorded cremations under mentor supervision (a certified technician), completion of a dedicated online module for guidance on the cremation of babies and infants, theory coursework submission and to conclude an on-site practical assessment.
An experienced FBCA mentor carrying out on site training can help cremator technicians stay updated on best practices, new regulations, and advancements in cremation technology. These sessions cover topics including equipment maintenance, health and safety standards, environmental compliance, and ethical considerations. Upon completion, candidates receive a certificate of recertification displaying personal and organisational commitment to ongoing professional development.
The FBCA TEST Mentoring Programme recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, guidance, and leadership in mentoring candidates through the FBCA Training & Examination Scheme (TEST).
Completed as a mandatory part of TEST or standalone CPD, this module is designed to provide guidance on best practice for the cremation of babies and infants.
In line with the 2014 recommendations of the Infant Cremation Commission, all trainee technicians must complete practical training in baby and infant cremation at a Federation-approved crematorium recognised for excellence in this area.
Enrol in our Register of Certified Cremator Technicians to submit records of 10 cremations carried out annually, promote your active operational status and receive a certificate of recognition.
