Following the updated funeral guidelines, the London Funeral Singers have released guidelines for their services.
Before these changes, the guidance did not distinguish between congregational singing and professional performances, which led to many crematoria mistakenly banning families from booking professional musicians for funeral services. That guidance has now been clarified.
Some professional, socially-distanced vocal or instrumental contributions can be included, either indoors or outdoors, but outside wherever possible. Singing should be limited to a small, set group of no more than 6 people, staying at least 2 metres apart, and should not include audience participation.
