National Executive Committee

22nd July 2020 | Inspection Scheme News Training Updates

The Federation NEC met on 30th June 2020, via video conference, and discussed a range of issues.

The discussions included two important developments.

  1. Crematorium Compliance Scheme

Members will be aware that, due the pandemic restrictions introduced in March, it was necessary to suspend the Crematorium Compliance Scheme inspections. As restrictions have loosened, it has become possible to recommence visiting crematoria in England. Having discussed the matter with the Crematorium Compliance Scheme Inspectors, the National Executive Committee agreed to commence inspections during August 2020. The inspections will of course be subject to social distancing and government guidance in force at the time

  1. TEST Scheme Special measures Update

The suggestion to return to on site assessments for the TEST scheme was discussed in detail and it was agreed to proceed with on-site assessments from 1 August 2020.

The Training Coordinator will contact crematoria to seek their agreement to the on-site assessment being carried out after 1. The number of assessments to be carried out currently stands at 84 and does vary greatly by both region and examiner, so we would ask Cremation Authorities to be patient as we deal with the back log which has built up during the emergency. Any variances between England, Wales and Scotland will be assessed closer to the date of assessment and any local lockdowns will be applied as appropriate.

If you should require any further information please contact the Training Coordinator here
